6’9” / 215lbs / Forward
Wenyen Gabriel is a 6’9, 215 pound forward from Manchester, New Hampshire, now on a two-way contract with the Sacramento Kings. He attended the University of Kentucky, where he had a major impact. Gabriel had a breakout sophomore year and improved in virtually every major statistical category, including new highs in points, rebounds, blocks, steals, 3-point field goals, field-goal percentage, 3-point percentage and free-throw percentage.
Big time players show up in crucial moments, and Wenyen Gabriel reflects just that. The Kentucky standout was named to the SEC All-Tournament Team after averaging 13.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocks during UK’s three-game run to the SEC championship.
The versatile big man can make plays at the rim as well as around the perimeter. Leading the Wildcats with 40 blocks, Gabriel was also second on the team in 3 pointers made with 42 - something that caught the eye of NBA scouts. After his second year dressed in Kentucky blue, Wenyen Gabriel decided to forgo the rest of his college career and pursue his NBA aspirations.
Going undrafted in 2018, Gabriel was named to Sacramento Kings Summer League team where he took advantage of the opportunity. In his last four games of Las Vegas Summer League, in just 20 minutes per game, the undrafted rookie averaged 9.8 points and 6.8 rebounds.
The Kings along with other members of the NBA were impressed with the big man's ability to step outside, shoot from deep, and also be a presence around the rim. Wenyen Gabriel signed a two-way contract with the Sacramento Kings, but has spent the majority of the season with their G-League counterpart, the Stockton Kings. In the G-League, he has left an impression too. He is averaging over 10 points per game, with a FG% of 0.488. This young man shows massive potential and we’re proud to support him on his journey to greatness.
